The Henage family has this bench in their kitchen area that has seen better days. I wish I would have taken some before pictures so you could see what it looked like. Jeannine hired me to reupholster their bench for them. She said it shouldn't be too hard. As I looked at, I kind of thought I could do it, but at the same time was very skeptical, especially with my meager sewing skills. I accepted the challenge. It was a good thing I had Jeannine to help me and so I could ask her a zillion questions as I worked on it. I also wish I would have taken pictures as I worked on this fun project. While I was taking apart the old vinyl, I sliced my hand with the seamripper. It was nasty! The cut was an inch long and deep enough to see fat - gross!!! I probably should have gotten stitches, but didn't. At one point on the sewing machine, I was covered with fabric everywhere. I was stuck and couldn't get out! It was quite the adventure! I felt like I was guessing my way through it, but it turned out great! It looks so good now! So, pretty much, I'm a professional now. You can call me for any of your uphostery needs. Hee hee. Jeannine was "tickled" with how well it turned out and how great it looks in her kitchen. Here are some pictures of what it looks like now.
I know...it does seem too good to be true. All I've ordered so far are some prints. I paid shipping so they were a few cents a piece, but still cheaper than I could have printed elsewhere. So as far as I can tell the items are free and you just pay shipping. Hopefully they are as good of deals as they seem to be and we can both get some cool stuff!
p.s. We need to get together sometime....sad that we live so close and rarely see each other. Perhaps it's because our husbands are work, work, working. :)
You did a great job, Melanie! I'm so impressed. I'm also glad that she didn't ask ME to do it because it wouldn't have looked that good. Also, it wouldn't be finished for like two years. I still have to finish her Christmas present! I haven't picked it up for several weeks. Hmmm.
Melanie is awesome, and Matthew is awesome for marrying her. Their awesomeness combined forces on March 28, 2008 in the Manti Temple and are living happily ever now in Springville. Melanie is using degree in Physical Education, by teaching K-6 Elementary Physical Education at Freedom Academy in Provo. She teaches over 500 kids, and loves it! Play for work - what could be better? She also teaches 7th grade CTE - cooking, sewing, business, technology. She is still trying to figure out the best way to teach her lovely 7th graders. Matthew and Melanie have been working together to start their freezer jam business. freezer-jam.com Matthew is a part owner and CEO of Utah web design firm Superior Design Inc. He has a passion for entrepreneurship, marketing and the Internet.
